The first 12” single which jumps out of the forthcoming album “The Life and Death of Jimmy Pheres and his Rise from the Underworld” comes lyrically as a statement and brings on this 12” two versions from Morell refined by the backing vocals of Johanna Sadonis as well as one Remix by Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten) and England's best electro producers Punx Soundcheck who just finished a remix for Bloc Party.
The original is definitely not a dance track, but Punx Soundcheck turn it on its head. Steve tells the healing feeling of loneliness to the public, a feeling which we all need to create in order to be satisfied with the work we do and to live in harmony with the people we know. Nothing more to say than “Loneliness means Holiness – Loneliness is the only dress – you might say it means emptiness – for us it feels like happiness!!! Edition BLASS Music / FREIBANK „Loneliness“ is a haunting track. Both melody and lyrics can make one obsessed with it.
Alexander Hacke´s „Solitary Doom Remix“ sounds like the zombie of Steve Morell interpreting „Loneliness“. A deep black metal bass guitar leads anxiously all the track and the two piano notes sampled from the original, give the whole a gothic touch. Morell´s voice is cavernous and frightening but still magnetic and seducing.
The „Original Metropolis Version“ brings „Loneliness“ to light: this beautiful and dark ballad with a strong life philosophy having in the centre Jimmy Pheres, the character who inspired Steve Morell´s album „The Life And Death Of Jimmy Pheres and his Rise From The Underworld“.
And what is a Single without a dance floor version? Punx Soundcheck Remix create a rhythmated version keeping the vibe of the original but adding some electronic boldness and using Johanna Sadonis vocals in a sung dialogue to Steve Morell.
